Big Boy Bed

Note: This post was written on June 13. It took us this long to get pictures of him in his bed. We finally took a minute on July 4th to take down the crib and to move the toddler bed away from the window. The screwdriver in the pictures was commandeered from Daddy's tool bucket.

Gavin has been sleeping in his crib for over two years now. (He slept in a bassinet for the first two months.) He hasn't seemed to mind it, and hasn't tried to escape, so we have just kept using it. That all came to an end last night.

We have a toddler bed that was given to use by a friend. We have been storing it upstairs in a couple places just to keep it out of the way until Gavin wants to use it. Yesterday Miranda set up the toddler bed in Gavin's room while he and I were gone to the pool. He LOVED it! We asked him if he which bed he wanted to sleep in and he said "dat one", pointing to the toddler bed.

Miranda and I both got a few giggles from his new sleeping arrangements last night. We pointed the video monitor so that we could see what he was doing in the new bed. At one point he had an entire leg hanging over the side for about and hour. Another time he was perpendicular to the bed with his feet hanging off the side. Then this morning when Miranda went up to get him, he was knocking on the door saying "Mama, Daddie".

Without prompting, Gavin told Miranda that he liked his new bed and that he doesn't like "dat one" pointing to his old crib. I guess the boy knows what he likes. Hopefully the new sleeping arrangements will mean less waking up in the middle of the night for the boy.
