San Francisco, Days Three and Four

On Thanksgiving Day, I took one picture. I don't know what my problem is. One picture. Gavin and Jonas were watching TV in the morning. Gavin went over to the chair where Jonas was and said, "sit," so I happily hoisted him up to share the chair with Jonas.

Letha spent most of the morning and early afternoon cooking--dressing, roasted carrots and parsnips, cranberry salad, green bean casserole. Mike smoked the turkey in his Big Green Egg and made a pumpkin pie cheese cake. Everything was yummy. After dinner, we left the boys with Grandma and GrandBob while we went to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1.

Friday morning, we headed south for breakfast. Judy had a gigantic cinnamon roll; we were shocked that it only cost $3.25. Pancakes, apricot French toast, crabcakes benedict, tasty season potatoes, and a huge breakfast sandwich fed the rest of the crew.

With full tummies, we headed north into the city via Oakland and the Bay Bridge for a ride on the trolley cars.

We arrived at the Fisherman's Wharf and a trolley car stop.

While waiting our turn for the next trolley, we took in the sights.

We were amazed at the manual turn around at the end of the line.

A view of the Golden Gate Bridge from Fisherman's Wharf.

Finally, we were on the trolley car.

Looking out the back and down the hill.

We got off in Chinatown, walked across the street and around the block to catch a trolley going back to Fisherman's Wharf. The line ended a bit sooner than we anticipated, but we had a great ride and a brisk walk back to the car. We still had to get back to the house to finish packing our bags and then get to the airport. Had we planned a bit better, we could have taken our bags with us and had more time to play. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to go back.

Hopefully, Mike and Letha will have us back. :) Gavin ended up with a runny nose and cough while we were there. I think as of Saturday, he had shared it with everyone, except Dave and me. Gavin wasn't always on his best behavior, but he wasn't getting naps, had a runny nose, and was just not in his normal surroundings. I hope this doesn't forbode things to come with our future travels.
