Lindsey has two cute posts featuring Gavin at their blog.
One is from the daycare's Egg Hunt. (I hadn't planned on Gavin's class participating. I had been told they wouldn't, but I went over to watch Dean and found out Gavin's class was going outside. I didn't have a camera, but Lindsey was prepared.)
The other about a playdate the boys had while Dave was volunteering for local missions and I was working my school district's job fair.
I'm sure there will be many more Gavin entries at the Hopkins blog and Dean entries here as time goes on.

Bubbles
Mike and Jonas made a very brief overnight stop at our house on their second cross-country drive from Atlanta to San Francisco. Before heading out this morning, we let Jonas run off some energy.
Everybody loves bubbles. These boys are no exception. Jonas had a great time chasing and bursting the bubbles. Gavin had fun toddling around.
Jonas got quite concerned if Gavin headed towards the street.
We learned that Jonas has a thing about shoes--he always wants to wear them. Since I prefer to be barefoot, I didn't think about having the boys put shoes on with their pjs, before we headed out onto the driveway to chase bubbles. The minute Mike came outside, the first thing Jonas said to him was, "Shoes. Daddy." Mike had to assure him that it was OK to be barefoot by taking his own shoes off. (Maybe I should have put shoes on them; Gavin ended up with a stubbed toe that necessitated a little Neosporin.)

Evening Fun
Gavin's walking has really taken off this week. :)
When I picked him up Wednesday, his teacher saw me coming and opened the classroom door so that he could walk to me. She said he had been walking all day. That morning he had walked all the way around the island in the kitchen.
This morning when I dropped him off at school, after loving on Ms. Linda for about 5 seconds, he wanted down. He promptly started walking. Carter crawled away, and Gavin was in hot pursuit laughing the entire time.
Gavin loves to be outside, so after work we headed to the backyard. I was cleaning up after Mason so that Dave could mow the yard later. Gavin played with the potted tomatoes for a bit and picked up Mason's footballs. Gavin so wants to play with Mason. He tries to throw the ball, but it doesn't go too far. Soon enough . . .
G is still a bit tottery, but he has stopped holding his arms out like Frankenstein (drat, I really thought that was cute).
After Dave got home, we played some more. Enjoying the slide. One day we'll get the entire play scape put together. . .

No Pictures Please
Gavin also has started shaking his head when we prompt him to do so. He has the yes and no shake down, and he thinks that it's quite a funny thing to do.
A Little Stiff Legged
Gavin has decided that walking is faster and more fun than crawling. He was content for awhile to just crawl because he could get there faster crawling than walking. But as his balance has improved, he thinks that this walking stuff is pretty cool. He isn't running around the house just yet, but it won't be too long before he's chasing Mason around the house.
Look out! He's coming in for a landing!!!

Mother's Day
After Gavin went to bed, Dave cooked a delicious dinner for me. The steaks couldn't have been better. And the scallops were divine. It was a great day.

New Neighbors
Last Sunday, Dean came over for a few hours to play while Lindsey worked to get ready for the week at work after a long weekend of moving. The weekend before, Lindsey watched Gavin on Saturday morning so I could work interviewing at a job fair and so Dave could volunteer for local missions at the church. Gavin is very comfortable with Lindsey--he'll even leave me or Dave and reach out to her (even after his ooouie at school the other day). I love having Dean over because he shows me what Gavin is going to be doing next since he's about 4 months older.
At this age, the boys are mostly into parallel play, but there were a few moments when they were playing together. Dean was pushing the lawn mower and Gavin was in hot pursuit with his push toy. They both chose a window to bang on and yell while Dave was outside giving Mason a bath.
They share their love for carbs and took a break to eat some Ritz Bitz. This was my only dicey moment. Dave was in the shower. Dean was ready for a snack and tapping the booster seat to show me he was ready. Gavin was refusing to be put down. I finally decided to put G in the high chair while handing Dean Ritz Bitz. After their snack, it was back down for more playing. Gavin was a little jealous if either Dave or I were playing with Dean--imagine that.
Gavin Fall Down Go BOOM!
I have been telling everyone that Gavin has now officially graduated from baby to boy. Thursday morning the director of the daycare called Miranda to inform her that Gavin fell and cut his lip. The director wanted Miranda to come down to take a look to see if she thought he needed to go to the emergency room for stitches. As you can imagine, we were both a bit traumatized by the initial description of Gavin's injury. Thankfully upon further inspection the cut wasn't really that bad.
Gavin was walking while he had his teeth over his lower lip...he then proceeded to fall and smack his chin on a toy bin. He ended up with a nice little cut just below his lip, a fat lip, and a nice strawberry on his chin. His teachers said that he didn't even cry. Which is funny to us because he has become quite dramatic when he falls the least little bit while someone is watching.

Miranda went and picked him up and took him back to the high school. They made a visit to the school nurse who advised Miranda that the cut was probably small enough that no stiches or dermabond was needed. The bleeding had stopped totally by the time that I got to the high school. Gavin was just enjoying all the attention from the teachers, nurse, secretaries, principals, counselors, random strangers, etc...
The pictures look quite a bit better than what he looked like after the accident. He didn't miss a beat though, and was back to his normal routine in no time. He looks sad in the pictures because this was right before bed, and he was very tired - not because his lip hurt. This picture was too funny....
