A Debt Repaid - at Least Partially

OK, by now everyone knows that I owed Miranda bigtime for accompanying me on the fishing trip in the cold and rain. Well, as it turns out some of that debt was repaid last night.

I was with her for her high school's football banquet at Texas stadium last night. Now normally, this type of activity wouldn't bother me at all. But the duration of this event was excessive to say the least. We arrived around 7:00. Dinner was served and we watched a highlight film of the team's season. We then listened to a local sports news personality ramble on and crack jokes at others expense. Then we were onto awards and recognition portion of the evening. Here's a partial list of the people who were recognized or given awards:

-Administrative staff and spouses (even I was recognized...)
-Booster club executive board
-Booster club awards for members (lots of awards for some reason)
-Donors to the booster club
-Trainer staff
-Student trainer staff - this was a looong one for some reason even though there were only 4 students...
-Freshman coaches
-Freshman football team - 100+- kids
-JV coaches
-JV football team - 100+- kids, and the coach said something about each player
-Varsity position coaches
-Varsity football team - again lots of players, with the coaches talking about each kid for a minute or two
-Outstanding player awards

I'm sure that I am missing a few groups. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with these type of events, but it seems that some serious editing needs to happen to the program next year. These type of banquets shouldn't have to take four and a half hours! And evidently this was super short compared to last year. That one lasted five hours and 45 minutes.
