Mother's Day 2011

Since our group of Texas college friends were having a get together this weekend, the husbands decided to give the Mom's an afternoon off with a little pampering thrown in. We arranged for them to have lunch on at the Main Street Bakery followed by manicures and pedicures at Relache Spa at the Gaylord Hotel.

That left three Dad's at our house with six kids that range in age from 7 months to 8 years. It was quite an eventuful afternoon. In all acutallity, there was only about 45 minutes during the afternoon where it was a bit of a zoo. The kids all played, ate, and had fun. Gavin was especially excited to having all these other kids in his house. We inflated a bounce house in the backyard, built towers out of blocks, had car races, built train tracks, watched a little TV, and ate and ate and ate. I think that I washed and cut up over a bushel of fruit for those little bottomless pits in just a few hours. In hindsight though, we probably won't feed the kids Krispy Kream doughnuts before sending their Mom's away for the afternoon. :)

The Mom's had a great afternoon spending time catching up with each other. They came back with painted fingers and toes, and were greeted in the front yard by all the kids who were yelling MAMMA, MOM, and MOMMIE! I guess that the Dad's are adequate for a little while, but there is no substitue for your Mom.
