Before Gavin was born, I completed an application for the Academy program I run at work. This week, the Texas Commissioner of Education recognized the program as an exceptional use of the state's High School Allotment Funding. At the time I wrote the application, for the students enrolled in the program earned 88% of the credits they were working toward versus 68% prior to being enrolled in the program. While I'd like to see 100%, I'll take the increase. Additionally, student attendance rates increased 10% over the previous school year. While I've been on maternity leave, students have continued to be enrolled in the program under the direction of a lead teacher and the counselors. I can't wait to do my year-end numbers for the second year; I know good things are happening for these kids.
You can read the district's press release here.

Much of the wording in the press releases is taken verbatim from the application I submitted.
