Gavin Firsts

This week there have been too many firsts to list. Well...because everything was a first for Gavin this week. Below are some pictures of the more memorable first of the week. Not listed are other enjoyable firsts, like the first time getting hosed down by Gavin while changing his diaper, Dave's first diaper change, first bath, etc, etc.

First time being held by Grandma Sandra
First time being held by Grandma Judy
First time spending some time with GrandBobFirst car ride - he slept the whole way home. But the nurses were digging the puppy footies on his jumper. The girls can't get enough of him already.First time to get confused about feeding time and who provides the grub.First major screw up for the parents....we (I take no credit for this, I'm just holding the towel) were going to warm up a towel to put in with Gavin in his swaddle blanket because he was having gas pains. This is what a microwave does to a plain towel. Pretty impressive.

Miranda says: I take total responsibility for this. I microwaved the towel for about 1.5 minutes. When I took it out, it was just smoldering. I quickly put it out on the back porch; however, I was too late: the smell had penetrated the house. So we opened two windows. Then I thought, "Oh, the towel is laying near the back window that's opened, we're just going to pull the odor into the house. I went outside to pick up the towel and take it to the trash can. As the towel unfolded and was exposed to oxygen, it began to engulf in flames. I quickly threw it to the ground and stomped it out. Then I went over and got the hose to drench it and put out the fire. No one would have ever known what I did. But it was too funny a story not to share.

A big first today - Gavin was holding his head up on his own! He's not even a week old yet, and already holding his head up. I think that he was just excited about the upcoming bath.Gavin's first do. We brushed his hair after this bath today - he's too cute with the part. Miranda says that the hairstyle that I typically give him isn't a real hair style...I like to make a point with his hair so that he looks like the Count from Sesame Street. This little joke is typically accompanied by my cheezy counting with the "Count accent" 1 ah ah ah, 2 ah ah ah, 3 ah ah ah...

  1. Absolutely HI-larious!! Dave, I knew you were a pretty good "cook" and it sounds like you outdid yourself on this one. If cooking that towel to ashes is the worst you do trying to help your kid, you are da man!

  3. The hair thing never gets old! I'm actually relieved to know other men do that to their kids. I catch Josh doing that to Avery every now and then, poor girl!
