Finally Complete!!!

After what seemed like forever, I think that the nursery is totally complete. It seemed like for awhile we would finish one thing, and realize that we needed to do something else. As most of you know, we did a jungle theme. Gavin seems to enjoy it. He likes to talk to the monkeys the best.

Gavin coming 2 1/2 weeks early didn't help our efforts. Then, the fact that we had him in a bassinet in our room for almost 2 months didn't increase our sense of urgency to add the finishing touches. But once we moved Gavin into his nursery, and we moved into the guest room (our master bedroom is downstairs; the others are all upstairs), we scrambled to put the finishing touches on the room.

Much of the wall art was made by Dave. He had the three prints above the dresser printed at work and made the frames. He also cut out the initials that hang above the crib at work and finished them at home when we couldn't find letters that we liked that were premade.

He also made the shelf that holds the video monitor.
GrandBob and Dave made the shelf that holds the piggy bank and knick knacks.

Gavin loves playing on the mat beneath the window. He also spends some time swinging and bouncing. (Thanks to Tonya and Scott for these 2 toys.)
Gavin even has his own ipod. In addition to Jimmy Buffett, he listens to "150 Children's Songs" and U2. (U2 can always calm him down in the car when he's fussy.) The boy has good taste already.
We opted for a comfy rocker recliner for the nursery knowing that hours would be spent in it.

The Diaper Champ was a welcome addition about a month ago. Or as Dave calls it, the "toxic waste disposal unit".

  1. I love the letters and the artwork - a most excellent job!! Lily has the same piggy bank; with her name painted on the side, not Gavin's, of course!
